Sheree Cooke considers herself the residential Realtor® to the Rescue, as a Coldwell Banker affiliated agent who actively advocates for horse rescues in greater Denver.
“Selling homes is my business, but rescuing horses is my calling,” said Cooke. “There’s no greater reward than giving neglected or abused horses a chance to not only survive, but thrive.” A horse rescue owner herself, Cooke consistently donates a percentage of her real estate commissions to various area horse rescues so that the animals can find a forever home.
Several years ago, Cooke became aware that thousands of horses were being abused, neglected and even slaughtered. In the process, she learned that groups of advocates for horses were usually small and self-funded. Small organizations around the country were stepping up to save many horses and Cooke wanted to partake. She knew that she had to do something more to be a voice in helping the majestic creatures and that has been her mission ever since.
In addition to donating a portion of her earnings, Cooke volunteers at local equine fundraisers and events. “Horses are a part of our heritage and have contributed to the history of this country, they should be honored with respect for role they have played with love and protection,” she said.
Along with her husband, Edward, they share their ranch with 10 horses, eight of which have been adopted via horse rescues.
